<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I have a hard time being told to accept something because it is "God's will." How do we know it is God's will? I don't believe the Bible is the direct word of God. I believe it has been colored by the biases and agendas of the many generations preceding ours to the point where it no longer represents the true word of the Lord.Telling me to just "have faith" is simply not enough for me.
I don't see myself as God's puppet. I believe that he wants me to live my life and make my own decisions as best I can. I believe that he wants me to grow and learn on my own, even though I may make some mistakes in the process. I would rather make a decision because _I_ feel it is the "right" thing to do, instead of doing it because someone else tells me it is what I should do.
I just feel that some people use religion as a crutch so that they don't have to think through these issues. I'll take the path of critical thinking over blind obedience any day.
